Jude Law

Took a screenshot of Jude Law and used it as a reference for my very first try at oil paints! It's not technically done, but I know I'll never come back to it because as soon as I felt I got the hang of oils, I just had to take them to a larger painting...

Let's just say that I am IN LOVE with oils. And, with the scholarship dough I won, I was able to buy the nice, thick oil paints that I've always dreamed of (in addition to the really nice stuff I inherited from a distant relative). Honestly, I was born to paint with oils. I am glad that I was trained on acrylics, though. If I had started off with oils, it would have been a major mistake - I would have squandered them (without being able to really utilize the 1-3 days in-between layers that I'm forced to take while it dries). .......but I'll die if I have to paint another painting with acrylics any time soon.

I'm just... happy to paint. Before, I painted for the outcome, but I'm actually finding that I'm painting for the joy of seeing the colors (that you find in oils, NOT acrylics) and having fun blending and mixing and... it's just something I'm SO glad to be doing.

You'll be seeing the outcome of the larger piece(s) soon enough. School is starting next week and I want to finish them before the homework begins.
